Arelia LaRue Book #5 update and other cool news!

Hey guys,

I hope everything is going well. A quick update on Book #5, I'm aiming for an early summer release date so at this point around June-ish. Book #5 is going to be called...

SUPPRESSED  (does anyone see a theme with the titles? :P)

I need help picking a color for the cover. I was thinking dark green. Any suggestions?

Some other cool and unexpected news. Apple just announced a Breakout Books section on Itunes where they randomly promote books written by indie authors. And I am flattered that Bound made the cut along with some REALLY REALLY awesome authors. I mean, some of these other authors have already made The New York Times Bestseller list, so I am super grateful and humbled that I was chosen. Thanks to all of you! I'm really grateful!!! Cool, right?

Some of you have expressed an interest in writing and I would like to encourage you guys to go for it. It takes a lot of determination but now is a great time to be an author!

  1. Turquoise or a light pale green would be good c:
Or even red, depending on the mood of the book.

  2. Turquoise is really pretty but is probably too light to match the book's tone. I like the idea of Hunter green or red. Red what a powerful color.

  3. Oh, I was about to say turquoise as well :)You could keep that in mind for another book. I love Hunter green. Red or a combo of red and black are probably the most powerful colors!

  4. Bound already has a turquoise colorish feel to it. Im gonna vote for hunter green.

  5. By looking back at the past book colors, I would say Hunter green, an orange color, or red!! It just depends on the mood that the book will be!!!!

  6. Oxblood/darker burgundy colors are great too^^

  7. I like hunter green/forest green...or a burnt orange color? Loved Oppressed, cant wait for the next one!

  8. I think a medium green would be perfect for the new book and cant wait for it to come out

  9. Thanks for the suggestions!!! I love the idea of a red-ish or dark green cover. Have to wait and see! :)

  10. Eggplant, it is a very "suppressed" color, its not purple, not maroon, not black, however it is a beautiful blend of all three. The three colors are each suppressed and blended together to creat a unique color palate.

    1. Very poetic! I agree Eggplant is a very unique color. Going to ask my designer to give it a go.

  11. I don't know about the color. I like the idea of a red. Congrats on being on the Breakout list! What an accomplisment! I don want to start writing, I just dont' know how. I have a story in me but have no idea how to even begin! Wish I could be like Stephanie Meyers and just dream a book up! LOL! If life was so easy!

    2. Writing like anything else starts with an idea or a thought. So everything we do are basically ideas brought to life. If you think it you can do it. Does that sound corny: lol :P So bring your idea to life, Lesley!

  12. I personally like the idea of a red and black color, mainly because of the power linked to the color red.The color turquoise seems a bit too upbeat if the story is following along the dreary path of the last books...

    1. A dark green would look cool too, just not too dark though. Trying to balance a dark green and black is a bit difficult in my opinion. :/

    2. I love the power linked to red as well, Ashly. I think red represents the word Suppressed pretty well. You're right turquoise is too upbeat for the book. Am I colorblind or isn't Bound turquoise?

    3. No Kira you are not colorblind! Bound is definitely turquoise!(Punished is a goldish color too) :P

  13. I thought turquoise is more of a greenish blue where as Bound's cover is more baby blue... haha I could be wrong but its all up to how you look at it :)

  17. I like the idea of grey tones, I think with the title being what it is, it could reflect the feelings she's having. Hopefully the last book has a happy ending and could have a color reflecting that, if its passionate, the Oxblood would be cool for that book.

  18. I've been starting to work on my writing again, I want to do a paranormal romance type book as well, but have for a very long time too. I think for me, falling in the habit of writing every day is hard, but also, I was always better at nonfiction and could easily write a mini-memouir about getting from a pregnant 16 year old to where I am today, but that would be hard to let people see even though I have a feeling it may help some people. I noticed someone saying earlier they don't know how to get started, but I was told by the writer of the I Am Wolf series, who helps me from time to time, that the best thing to do is write something every day, even if you just start with ramblings of what you are thinking and it makes no sense, you start the habit. Joann also said to write for me and that's when the best stuff comes out. I hope this helps Lesley. Kira, turquoise can be lots of shades, but its my son's favorite color and usually more green blue and brighter than the blue you have already

  19. This series has become my fave so far! I simply cannot wait for the next book :)

A color suggestion for the cover: misty grey. when I think of being suppressed, thats the color that springs to mind.

No matter what color you pick, I'm sure it will match the tone of the book perfectly!

  22. I started reading these books yesterday, I read the reviews a lot of them were
bad but I decided to read the books anyway. I am african american myself I thought
a lot of the slavery contents in the book were ever hard to read, considering that my great, great grandmother was a slave herself. My mother was born into segragation, and it was all hard for me to process. But all around there are really good books, I can't wait for the next one to come out. The last one was a little shocking givin that it was to much background into who she used to be. It was nothing like the other books, it was a little boring. I'm hoping that the next book will be the last book in the series because I enjoyed reading 1, 2 and 3. But the slavery in the books was really hard for me to read.

    1. Dear Floyd
Good for you. You have your own mind. When people tend to follow the beehive it leads to things like slavery. My books are not the fluffy vampire, werewolf, fairytale, romance books that fill the market today and I know they have a ceratin amount of backlash. I'm cool with that.

The thing is, most people think slavery is a thing of the past. It is not. It is alive and well today. And it does not matter what your race is. It does not matter if you are African, white, Asian. Slaves of ALL races exist even today. The biggest illusion is that most people think it is a thing of the past.

I'm sorry you felt that the last book was boring. It was my favorite and the next book is not the last. Happy reading :)

    1. But why does emilie hate cecile so much i know she didnt do anythung to stop it but why??? And im glad its not the end for lucus and cecile plus arelia and louis was just a puppet wasnt he and he got played big time

    2. Hey Mikayla!
Thank you for reading! Rumors of LaRue movies are in the air.

Why does Emilie hate Cecile so much? I guess the only way to answer that question is to put yourself in Emilie's shoes. I suppose it's partially for the same reasons that Louis hates Lucus so much. Yes, poor Louis was nothing more than a puppet on a string.

June-ish isn't too long! it takes time to write books especially when you have a fulltime job :P
